Summary

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI 02072026) related to the pilot project of the NATO Engine initiative. The initiative was launched at the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara and aims to increase the Alliance's defence and industrial production capacity by connecting manufacturers and factories, particularly from the civilian sector, with new, non-traditional suppliers that need production capacity to scale their products. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) but a preliminary market survey. Through this RFI, NSPA is gathering information on manufacturers and factories with available production capacity over the next 12 months in three categories: (1) additive manufacturing, (2) engineering services and (3) manufacturing-as-a-service. Areas of interest include, among others, the automotive industry, electronics manufacturing, aerospace, metalworking, 3D printing, digital design and mechanical engineering. Responses will serve as the basis for listing companies on the upcoming NATO Engine online platform, which will use NSPA's existing RAPiD-e system and is scheduled to open in September 2026. The platform will enable B2B contact, but NATO/NSPA will not be involved in matching the parties and accepts no responsibility for the outcomes of commercial relationships. Responses must be submitted no later than 27 August 2026 via the questionnaires on the NSPA website. Email responses will not be considered. The notice's deadline field (31 December 2027) refers to the duration of the pilot. The detailed questionnaires are contained in a separate NSPA web link that has not been provided here. They include additional information and conditions not covered in this summary.
