Summary
The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) announces its intention to award a sole source contract to Airbus Defence and Space SA (EADS CASA, Madrid) for full life-cycle In-Service Support of the Spanish Air Force C-295 fleet. The fleet comprises 46 aircraft in four different configurations, potentially across seven different air bases. The service covers a broad scope: the C-295 MLU upgrade and retrofit to avionics standard SW10.1, scheduled maintenance in accordance with the MRBD, corrective maintenance, implementation of Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives, engineering and technician support, obsolescence management, and the supply and repair of spare parts in accordance with the C-295 OEM (Airbus) catalogue. The contract also includes on-site technical support, support to SPASF CAMO and DOA functions, training (including delta CN-235 – C-295 and Thales–Collins avionics), depot-level maintenance (DLM) of spare parts, a pool of major components (engines, propellers, landing gear), AOG emergency spares, and an automated spare parts ordering system with a centralised HUB. NSPA justifies the sole source award on the grounds that Airbus is the C-295 OEM and type certificate holder, holds design technical authority, holds the IPR to the SW10.1 standard documentation, and is certified by INTA as a Design Organization for Defense. Companies that consider themselves able to meet the requirement may submit evidence of their capability within 10 calendar days of publication to katerina.tuckova@nspa.nato.int and source-file@nspa.nato.int. The notice deadline is 15 December 2026. The NSPA Operating Instructions relating to complaint procedures (including OI 4200-01, 4200-08 and 4200-09) contain additional terms that are not reflected in this summary.
